Carlos-drummer for Cheap Trick born today 1951 - Brad Delp-singer for Boston is born in Boston 1965 – All four of the Beatles are named to receive MBE’s in Queen Elizabeth’s Birthdays Honours List. 1966: The Dave Clark Five made their record breaking twelfth appearance on the Ed Sullivan Show. The band later made six more appearances, a record for a British band. 1970: The Guess Who performed at the White House for an audience which included Prince Charles and the Nixons. Mrs. Nixon requested that they drop “American Woman” from the set. 1972: John Lennon released his third post-Beatles album Some Time in New York City his fourth album with Yoko Ono. 1977 – No. 1 Chart Toppers Pop Hit: “Dreams,” Fleetwood Mac. 1982: Jackson Browne, Gary “U.S.” Bonds, Linda Ronstadt, Bruce Springsteen & James Taylor were among the 750,000 in attendance for the Rally for Nuclear Disarmament at Central Park in New York City, the largest political rally in U.S. history. 1993: Rod Stewart entered the Billboard 200 Album Chart at number two with Unplugged…and Seated which was Stewart’s second live album. It contained his first performance with Ronnie Wood in nearly 20 years & went on to sell three million copies in the U.S. 1998 – John Fogerty cancels the first date of his U.S. tour because it conflicts with Game 5 of the NBA Finals, in which the Chicago Bulls face the Utah Jazz. 2005 – Pink Floyd announced they would reunite with former bassist Roger Waters, who left the band in 1985, on July 2 for the Live 8 London concert. This would be the first time the band had played together as a quartet since The Wall tour in 1981. 2006 – Korn are forced to cancel their European tour after singer Jonathan Davis is hospitalized to treat a blood disorder. 2012: Pearl Jam’s former chief financial officer Rickey Goodrich was charged with thirty-three counts of theft for allegedly stealing $380,000 from the band’s management company & spending the money on lavish vacations, spa treatments, life insurance & pricey California wines.
