1944 - Jack Casady-bassist for Jefferson Airplane is born today.
1945 – Guitarist Lowell George of Little Feat is born.
1951 - Max Weinberg-drummer for The E Street Band born
1962 – The Star Club opens in Hamburg, with the Beatles as its house band.
1964 – The Beatles announce that the title of their first film is A Hard Day’s Night.
1966 - Marc Ford-guitarist for The Black Crowes enters the earth.
1967 – The Rolling Stones give their first performance behind the Iron Curtain. Warsaw, Poland’s Palace of Culture. Police use tear gas to subdue 2,000 fans.
1969 - The king of rock, Dominic Forbes is born.
1971 – The Rolling Stones released ‘Brown Sugar’ the first record on their own label, Rolling Stones Records, which introduces the infamous licking- tongue and lips logo.
1973 – Roger Daltrey releases first solo LP, produced by Adam Faith, entitled Daltrey.
1974 – Wings: Band on the Run: US LP is no. 1 chart topper.
1979 – Dave Lee Roth collapses from exhaustion onstage in Spokane, Wash., during a Van Halen concert.
1982 – David Crosby is arrested on charges of drug possession in Dallas. It’s the second time in three weeks he’s been busted in the Texas city.
1993 – The first ‘Aerosmith Day’ was observed in the Commonwealth of Massachusetts after the band were given their very own holiday.
1996 – Rage Against The Machine appeared on NBC’s Saturday Night Live. Their two-song performance was cut to one song when the band attempted to hang inverted American flags from speakers.
1999 – Tom Petty & the Heartbreakers release their album Echo.
2003 – The Beatles Apple Corp company was listed as Britain’s fastest profit-growth firm with an annual profit growth of 194%.
2007 – Julian Lennon sold a “significant” stake of his share in the songs his father John wrote for The Beatles to US music publishing company Primary Wave.
2008 - Clifford Davies, drummer for Ted Nugent, who played on his trademark recording "Cat Scratch Fever", was found dead from an apparent self-inflicted gunshot wound in his suburban Atlanta home. He was 59.
2010 - RogerWaters.com states that “more dates, including shows in Europe, will be announced in the near future”.
2012 - Tom Petty and the Heartbreakers had five of their guitars stolen from the Soundstage in Culver City, CA where they were rehearsing for a tour.
