1919 – Born on this day, Max Yasgur, owner of the Woodstock farm where the 1969 festival was held. 1921 – Born on this day … Albert James “Alan” Freed. 1942 – Drummer Dave Clark of the Dave Clark Five is born in London. 1946 – Born on this day, Carmine Appice, drummer, Vanilla Fudge. Also a member of Beck, Bogart and Appice and the Rod Stewart band. 1969 – John Lennon gives his last live performance in England, a UNICEF benefit in London. 1977 - The Sex Pistols were denied entry into the U.S. two days before their scheduled appearance on Saturday Night Live. Elvis Costello would fill-in for them. 1994 - Bon Jovi guitarist Richie Sambora married Heather Locklear in a civil ceremony at his Red Bank, NJ home. 1997 – The surviving members of Australian rock act INXS release a tape of an interview in which they talk about the life and death of the group’s late vocalist Michael Hutchence. 2001 - Joe Walsh received an honorary Doctorate of Music in recognition of his musical achievement & involvement in environmental & humanitarian causes from Kent State University in Kent, OH where Walsh attended from 1965 through 1967. 2003 – Courtney Love was sentenced to 18 months in drug rehabilitation after she admitted being under the influence of cocaine and opiates. She was banned from taking non-prescription drugs, drinking alcohol or being in places that serve alcohol. 2006 – Phish frontman Trey Anastasio is arrested early in the morning in upstate New York for driving while under the influence of drugs and with a suspended license.
