1941 – Born on this day, David Clayton-Thomas, Blood Sweat & Tears 1943 – Born on this day, Ray Elliot, Them 1944 – Born on this day, Peter Cetera, singer, Chicago 1959 - Stephen Perkins-drummer for Jane’s Addiction is born 1961 – Born on this day, Dave Mustaine, guitarist, Megadeth, Metallica 1965 - Zak Starkey-drummer for The Who & Oasis and son of Ringo is born. 1965 - The Beatles released “Yesterday” which went on to become the most covered song of any song ever written with over 1,600 versions recorded. 1969 - John Lennon and the Plastic Ono Band made their live debut with Eric Clapton on guitar in Toronto during the Toronto Rock and Roll Revival Festival at Varsity Stadium. 1985 – Sting begins his first solo tour in San Diego. 1991 - At the Re-bar in Seattle, Nirvana got thrown out of their own party for the launch of Nevermind due to starting a food fight. 2000 – Elton John threw a tantrum when he was set to appear at a sell-out show at the Estoril Casino near Lisbon. Elton was unhappy after the audience were slow in leaving a VIP dinner before the concert. Elton left the building and flew home on his private jet without playing a note. 2005 – The home where Jimi Hendrix grew up in Seattle was saved from demolition after a new location was agreed at the last minute. The James Marshall Hendrix Foundation and the City of Seattle agreed to renovate the building into a community centre opposite the cemetery where the guitarist was buried in 1970. 2005 – The Sex Pistols were among new names added to a celebrity Walk of Fame in Covent Garden London.
