1980 – Over in England, Thin Lizzy frontman Phil Lynott marries Caroline Crowther, the daughter of a game-show host.

1986 - Even Frank Zappa thought Miami Vice was cool. He appears on tonight’s episode as “Mr. Frankie,” a crime boss with impeccable facial hair.
1987 – Bon Jovi started a four week run at No.1 on the US singles chart with ‘Livin’ On A Prayer’, the groups second US No.1, a No.4 UK hit.
1990 – The Rolling Stones played the first of ten nights at the Korakuen Dome, Tokyo, Japan. The shows were seen by over 500,000 fans, making the band $20 million (£11.76 million).
1992 – The film ‘Waynes World’, with a brief cameo appearance from Meat Loaf premiered in the US. Wayne’s World was a recurring sketch from the NBC television series Saturday Night Live.

1999 – Doug Weston, who operated L.A. club the Troubadour, dies in a local hospital after a bout of pneumonia. He is 72.
2000 – Kiss announce their farewell tour. The reunited foursome will don the makeup one last time, then sell off the stage props from a 30-year career in an auction.
2003 – Australian police uncover Beatles album art and reel-to-reel tapes in a raid. All the material appeared to be from the White Album and Abbey Road sessions.
2004 – Dave Holland, former drummer with Judas Priest was jailed for eight years for indecent assault and the attempted rape of a 17-year old boy.
2010 - Doug Fieger, the lead singer for The Knack on their 1979 hit "My Sharona", died after a six-year battle with cancer. He was 57.
2011 - “Angry World,” by Neil Young wins best rock song catergory at The Grammy’s.
