1945 – Born on this day, Vic Briggs, guitar, The Animals,

1950 – Born on this day, Roger Fisher, Heart.
1961 – The Beatles play at Liverpool, England’s Casanova Club and are captured on film for the first time.
1967 – The Doors play the Whisky a Go Go in Los Angeles.
1968 – Manfred Mann were at No.1 on the UK singles chart with their version of the Bob Dylan song ‘Mighty Quinn’.
1968 – Drumming up some publicity, Frank Zappa announces he’s working on two films with his Mothers of Invention. Uncle Meat doesn’t see the light of day until 1987, while a proposed Japanese monster movie never comes to fruition.
1970 – The Who perform at Leeds University in England and record it for the official bootleg Live at Leeds.
1972 – Born on this day, Rob Thomas, Matchbox 20.
1972 – John Lennon and Yoko Ono begin their week-long stint as guest hosts on The Mike Douglas Show.
1973 – David Bowie collapses from what his promoter calls “total exhaustion” following a Valentine’s Day show at Radio City Music Hall.
1974 – Bob Dylan and the Band wrap up their current tour at the Los Angeles Forum. Audience member Ringo Starr says it’s “the best concert I’ve ever been to.”
1978 – Dire Straits begins recording its first album in London.
1980 – Lou Reed married Sylvia Morales at a ceremony in his New York apartment.
1980 – Over in England, Thin Lizzy frontman Phil Lynott marries Caroline Crowther, the daughter of a game-show host.
1981 – Singer Billy Idol leaves his band Generation X to pursue a solo career.
1984 – Elton John marries Renate Blauel. To this day he has no idea what he was thinking.
1986 -  Even Frank Zappa thought Miami Vice was cool. He appears on tonight’s episode as “Mr. Frankie,” a crime boss with impeccable facial hair.
1987 – Bon Jovi started a four week run at No.1 on the US singles chart with ‘Livin’ On A Prayer’, the groups second US No.1, a No.4 UK hit.
1990 – The Rolling Stones played the first of ten nights at the Korakuen Dome, Tokyo, Japan. The shows were seen by over 500,000 fans, making the band $20 million (£11.76 million).
1992 – The film ‘Waynes World’, with a brief cameo appearance from Meat Loaf premiered in the US. Wayne’s World was a recurring sketch from the NBC television series Saturday Night Live.
1992 – Jon Farriss from INXS married actress Leslie Bega.
1994 – Jerry Garcia marries Deborah Koons.
1998 – Marilyn Manson begins a brief book signing tour on Valentine’s Day at Tower Records in New York in support of his autobiography “It’s A Long Hard Road Out of Hell.”
1999 – Lenny Kravitz scored his first UK No.1 single with ‘Fly Away.’
1999 – Doug Weston, who operated L.A. club the Troubadour, dies in a local hospital after a bout of pneumonia. He is 72.
2000 – Kiss announce their farewell tour. The reunited foursome will don the makeup one last time, then sell off the stage props from a 30-year career in an auction.
2003 – Australian police uncover Beatles album art and reel-to-reel tapes in a raid. All the material appeared to be from the White Album and Abbey Road sessions.
2004 – Dave Holland, former drummer with Judas Priest was jailed for eight years for indecent assault and the attempted rape of a 17-year old boy.
2010 - Doug Fieger, the lead singer for The Knack on their 1979 hit "My Sharona", died after a six-year battle with cancer. He was 57.
2011 - “Angry World,” by Neil Young wins best rock song catergory at The Grammy’s.
