1948 – James Taylor is born in Boston. 1949 – Born on this day, Bill Payne, Little Feat. 1949 – Born on this day, Mike Gibbins, drummer with Badfinger. 1957 – Steve Harris (Iron Maiden) is born this day. 1965 – The Beatles wrap up their location shooting of Help! in the Bahamas. In an interview with The New York Times, Beatles manager Brian Epstein predicts that the band will still be popular in 10 years and declares the Rolling Stones “a fine group.” 1969 – Paul McCartney marries Linda Eastman at Marylebone Registry Office in London. 1971 – Jethro Tull release Aqualung LP. 1971 – A London High Court judge rules in favor of Paul McCartney’s action to dissolve the Beatles’ partnership. 1971 – The Allman Brothers Band begins recording the classic double LP “Live at the Fillmore East.” 1974 – Nilsson and John Lennon are ejected from the Troubador Club in Los Angeles for heckling Tom Smothers’ comedy act. 1977 – The Sex Pistols were involved in a fight at London’s Speakeasy Club with Bob Harris, presenter of BBC 2’s The Old Grey Whistle Test resulting in one of the show’s engineers needing 14 stitches in his head. Two days later Harris’s solicitors contact Derek Green at A&M the bands record label. 1990 – Nirvana and Tad appeared at the Town Pump in Vancouver, British Columbia, Canada. 1994 – Congratulations to Pat Benatar and her husband, Neil Geraldo, who become parents of daughter Hana Juliana. 1995 – The Spin Doctors played a gig at singer Chris Barron’s old School in Princeton and raised $10,000 (£5,882) towards a trip to France and the UK for the school choir. 2003 – The Chinese government forbids the Rolling Stones from playing the songs “Brown Sugar”, “Honky Tonk Women”, “Beast Of Burden” and “Let’s Spend The Night Together” during their April tour. 2003 – Ryan Adams ends his war of words with the White Stripes by declaring their new album Elephant, “may be the best rock ‘n’ roll record ever made.” 2004 – Blink-182 drummer Travis Barker breaks his right foot while in Australia, forcing the cancellation of the band’s planned tour of the continent, as well as several shows in Japan and two in Hawaii. 2006 – Pink Floyd’s David Gilmour tops the U.K. album charts with On An Island. 2010 – Singer/songwriter and Elton John and Pink Floyd collaborator Lesley Duncan has died aged 66. 2010 – Pink Floyd won its court battle with EMI on Thursday with a ruling that prevents the record company from selling single downloads on the Internet from the group’s concept albums.
